From the 19th until the 28th of august 2009 a group of Iraqi children came to visit Germany on behalf of the invitation of Birkholz International GmbH.

Following a business trip to Bagdad in May 2009 and a meeting with the Ambassador of the republic of Iraq in the federal republic of Germany H.E. Alaa Al Hashimy as well as the advisor for rebuilding Iraq to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq Mr. Hak Al Hakim in Berlin, the idea of inviting such Iraqi children to Germany was born, who had proven, to be especially distinguished at school.

This way, the Iraqi children would be rewarded and recognized.

The children would have the opportunity to learn more about their educational opportunities in Germany, later to contribute to their home country with valuable knowledge or in any other way to achieve their goals.

Of course, leisure and fun activities were planned to bring the children closer to the culture and the people of Germany and to experience an easy and lively time.

16 students, among them 4 female students won the competition against their peers at school and were able to start their journey to Germany.

With the support of the Iraqi government with the visa and flights and the financial support in Germany for the stay by Birkholz International GmbH, all the necessary requirements were taken.

Children are influenced by the opportunities of their education, cultural exchange and also through motivation and appreciation.

Mr. Birkholz once more has managed, drawn by his humane engagement, to provide a lighthearted and certainly unique opportunity for these children, to experience a different culture, to interact with peers in Germany. The children had the chance, to glance into another part of the world and therefore to understand better.
